Departure to Micronesia Fast Approaching


On October 17th, researchers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, University of Hawai’i at Manoa and University of Maryland will begin a month-long expedition to some of the less known coral reefs of Micronesia to get a better understanding of the health of these remote ecosystems. Research methods include core drilling for geochemical analysis, nutrient and microbial analysis of seawater, analysis of microbial constituents of coral mucus and tissue, histology of healthy and diseased corals and assessment of prevalence of coral disease.
